Frequently Asked Questions

What does AMCA certification actually mean for my system?

AMCA 500 certification means our VI-A-TROL® dampers have been independently tested and verified to perform exactly as specified—up to ±30 in. w.g. pressure. This isn't just a checkbox; it's proof that your damper will seal tight, control airflow precisely, and integrate seamlessly with fans and scrubbers that meet the same standards.

When you're balancing multiple exhaust points or managing corrosive fumes, certified performance eliminates the guesswork. You know what you're getting, and it works the first time.

How do I choose between SSTeelcoat®, FRP, PVC, and polypropylene?

Start with your process chemistry and temperature. SSTeelcoat® handles the toughest environments—high temperatures, abrasive particulates, and aggressive acids where nothing else survives. FRP gives you structural strength for larger diameters and corrosive applications at a lower cost point. PVC and polypropylene work beautifully for ambient temperature applications with moderate chemical exposure.

Still not sure? Call us. Our engineers have seen thousands of applications and can recommend the right material in one conversation—often saving you from expensive mistakes.

What kind of installation support do you provide?

Every VI-A-TROL® damper ships with pre-drilled flanges to speed installation. But here's where we're different: our technical team actually picks up the phone. Whether you're troubleshooting a tricky connection, need clarification on torque specs, or want to verify your installation approach before you commit, we're available to help. We've guided contractors through thousands of installations, so when process conditions change mid-project, you're not stuck figuring it out alone.
